Miro Miro on the Wall

I think this one is kind of self explanatory... Joan Miro... a spoof of Mirror Mirror on the Wall... 

I've actually done quite a few versions of this painting, and I should probably do another one because I don't have an original Miro Miro on the Wall to bring to my art shows anymore. What do you think... keep the cream colored background or try something new?

There are two other versions of this painting, both cream colored, one 20" x 20" and one 12" x 12", but unfortunately I sold both before I had the chance to take a good picture.

Deux Champs

Up until recently, when I did a few obscure paintings, this was always my most confusing painting. Not only is it "frenglish" - a combination of French and English, but the artist I am spoofing isn't exceptionally well-known outside of art enthusiasts.

So, just in case -- an explanation:

This painting is a spoof of Marcel Duchamps (pronounced doo-shamp) He is most famous for creating dada works of art, specifically a sculpture of a bicycle wheel attached to a bar stool. "deux" in French means "two." So I painted "two champs" on a bicycle wheel, attached to a bar stool.

There have been two other versions of Deux Champs also. I did a tan and purple 12" x 12" version and a 30" x 30" version that looked a lot like the one above. They both sold last year, and unfortunately, I didn't get good photos of them before they left.

Van Go

My first version of Van Go featured a Volkswagen Van, with a psychedelic take-off of the starry night pattern in the background. Unfortunately, VW wasn't too happy about this.. as such, I am no longer selling prints, note cards or magnets of this version of Van Go. Sorry!

However, I did a second version with a very anonymous van, of which prints, note cards and magnets are still available.

Dali Llama

This was the first piece of funny artwork I ever did-- my family and I went to the Dali exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 2005, and while eating lunch the idea for this painting struck me.

After taking it to my first art show and seeing how it made people laugh, I knew I wanted to do more-- Van Go, Deux Champs and The Matisse Falcon soon followed. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I'll be uploading more of my artwork throughout the day, and hopefully I'll have my entire portfolio of funny art up on the blog by the end of the week, if not sooner.

I have two other blogs-- (I know it's a lot of blogs for one person, but none of my artwork seems to overlap enough to be crammed into one blog) --one for classic movie related artwork and posts, Silents and Talkies, and another for my line drawings of 1920's flappers having fun in black and white- flapperdoodle.
